If you
open the pages of history, you can see the journey of the most important Muslim
conquerors in the journey from Hejaz to the subcontinent, and this is also the
fact. Because in this journey, only a few warriors did not set foot on the land
of the subcontinent, but with them, a religion, a civilization, a culture, i.e.
a complete way of life, wrote the first letter of the coming history of the
subcontinent.
With
the arrival of Muslims, the geographical boundaries of this area continued to
change, but at the same time, the work of ideological cultivation also
continued, under which the difference between the standards of good and bad,
the sanctity and distinction of relationships, eating, drinking, dressing and
reading continued to set the path of change.
Along
with other aspects of life, one important change that took place for the people
of this area was in the health sector
The
Muslims who came from Hijaz, first of all, were rarely sick and if they had any
minor illness in view of human needs, they would treat it themselves.
If the
disease became severe, he would refer to his book, elders and some dry herbs he
had brought with him. It was a surprise for the people living here Because
according to them, no country in the world had a more fertile area than their
area and the herbs found here in the forests, mountains and river banks were
considered to be the cure for every disease in the world.
Treatment
with these herbs was not for everyone, there were some Vedas for this purpose
those who mixed their ingredients in a certain way from generation to
generation passed them through a process of fire and gave them to the people.
And
people needed to go to him even for minor ailments and this facility was
available only to the elite class. Taking medicine for ordinary class people
(Shudra etc.) was a far cry, even participation in religious worship was not
allowed.
After
the arrival of the Muslims, wherever the seemingly small and poor sections of
the society got an opportunity to come to the level of equality in religious
matters, they also started getting health facilities. The Muslims used to give
treatment to everyone who came to them without hesitation and also gave
medicines etc. when needed, which had a social effect that people started
coming in droves to benefit from this art of Muslims.
When
this matter reached the physicians here, initially they strongly opposed it,
but with the passage of time, they also became convinced of the virtues of the
Muslim art of medicine.
And
they began to benefit their patients by using the prescriptions and medicines taken
from them. This was the time when the word Hakim was used instead of Veda and
then the word Hakim became reserved for doctors. Some important plants and
herbs of the Holy Hijaz were successfully cultivated here.
And
with that, Hijazi medicine and Indian medicine together started a method of
treatment that is still in use today time passed and Muslims became the rulers
of this region, during this period indigenous medicine flourished, but after
the arrival of the British in this region, along with social attitudes, there
were dark changes in the field of medicine as well.
The
priceless treasures of health from the oases of Hijaz and India were left
behind and replaced by vaccines, capsules and temporary relief at unnatural
speed. As a result of which the overall health of our nation continued to
decline. For the last one and a half hundred years, like the English language,
English medicine is also riding on our nerves.
But
with the development of information technology in the past few years, the
exchange of information has become easier and the world has become aware of
various facts.
People
are starting to know how people in China stay healthy by using local medicine.
The people of Japan, Sri Lanka, India and even Germany have adopted their own
local medicine and not only saved their foreign exchange but also got rid of
harmful drugs. In Pakistan too, people are returning to their origin for the
past few years.
Those
who not only left their homeland for the sake of Pakistan, but also struggled
day and night to make the small Hamdard pharmacy a huge institution with hard
work, dedication and passion.
Like
them, many other organizations started to produce indigenous medicines on a
commercial scale, many of which were successful. Today it is because of them
that indigenous medicines are available in Pakistan.
And
because of them, an illusory ray of hope bound to medicine remained bright,
which today has become a burning candle and has started showing people the
right path.
Educated
and intelligent people are turning towards medicine day by day and surely this
is the proof of our best future as a nation.
