Society can be likened to a
jungle of human beings, with various classes defined by factors such as gender,
age, education, and profession. Each class and individual within it has their
own basic and essential interests. Pursuing these interests can lead to mutual
problems, confusion, and conflicts, ultimately resulting in social unrest and
even war. To prevent this, it becomes necessary to establish boundaries,
limits, and regulations so that each class can coexist within their own sphere
without conflicting with others. By maintaining peace, harmony, and order,
society can fulfill its duties and ensure that the planet becomes a peaceful
place. These boundaries, limits, and constraints can be referred to as laws.
In
the past, life was confined to smaller societies. With the advancement of media
and communication, societies expanded to national and international levels.
Now, thanks to technology, humans have transcended geographical boundaries, and
the planet has become a global community. This development has brought people
closer together, increasing mutual interactions and transactions, but it has
also intensified conflicts of interest. Therefore, international laws have
become indispensable in maintaining social peace and minimizing potential
conflicts.
As
society has progressed and discovered numerous comforts, it has also faced new
complications. Consequently, new laws have had to be established to address
these complexities. This has led to a vast body of laws, creating a reputable
field known as the legal sciences. The profession of law has become crucial in
every society, with those involved in it playing a vital role in protecting
basic human rights and preventing social evils. Their main duty lies in
enforcing the law and eliminating lawlessness, serving as a pillar of our
social life.
